LETTER FROM ARCHBISHOP
My Dear People,
this weekend I am asking you to support the youth work services provided by Crosscare on behalf of the Archdiocese by giving as generously as you can in the second collection today. These services (formerly provided by Catholic Youth Care) are an important part of the mission of the Church across our Diocese. Inspired by the example and teachings of Jesus Christ, Crosscare reach out to young people who are in need by offering them, encouragement and hope. The services provided are designed to help these young people fulfil their inherent God given potential.
The modern world is a very challenging place now for our young people. Many young people in our communities face daily stresses including mental health issues, homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse and uncertainty o employment. Many are now looking at emigration as their only option for their future.
Crosscare’s youth services provide opportunities, and encouragement to empower these young people achieve their potential and enable them to contribute positively to their own quality of lives and that of their communities.
Services include drop in centres, youth cafes, outdoor learning (adventure sports), developmental programmes, leadership training and a range of projects delivered through the mediums of sports, art, drama and music.
On behalf of the staff, volunteers and young people in Crosscare I would like to thank you for your over the years. I know that Crosscare take the trust and responsibility given to them very seriously and I urge you to support them once again in this appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin.
