In Ireland there is a Church and a State requirement to give each a minimum of three months notice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CHURCH REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Notification of intention of getting married<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Book the Church in which you hope to get married.<br \/> <em>We welcome your willingness to get married in St. Mary&#8217;s, Tallaght. But if you are not from our parish we hope you have considered adaequately the possibilty of getting married in your own Parish Church.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Contact the priest in \u00a0your local parish where each of you presently live to let him know of \u00a0your intention to marry and make an appointment to meet him (at least 3 months before wedding). He will tell you what documents you require and then he will fill with you a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form.<br \/> <strong><strong><em>If you are from our parish contact the Parish Priest or Curate at 01 4048100.<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Documents required by the Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>A new long form baptismal certificate issued within six months of the proposed date of marriage from the parish of Baptism<\/li>\n<li>Indication of Confirmation (separate certificate if not recorded on baptismal certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Freedom to Marry\n<ul>\n<li>Letter of freedom from the parishes the person has lived<\/li>\n<li>Statement given by parent or sibling who has known them all their lives stating their relationship to them and to the best of their knowledge they have never been married religiously or civilly in any jurisdiction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Pre-marriage Course certificate\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accord.ie\" target=\"_blank\">ACCORD<\/a>. Tel. 01 4784400<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/together.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\">TOGETHER<\/a> Tel.01 2964257<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form<\/strong><br \/> \u00a0You will each complete a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry form with your local priest. The form records when you were received into the Church at Baptism and then Confirmed. It also indicates that you are free to marry and helps identify any special permission that you might need.<br \/> It also affirms that as a mature adult you understand the nature of marriage and accept the duties and responsibilities of married life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When all these documents are completed and signed by the priest and you, the priest will forward the copleted ddocuments to the Church where the wedding is taking place. These papers should be sent at least one month before the wedding and after the wedding the forms are kept in the parish archive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>If your situation is particular<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If your situation is particular such as a Catholic marrying somebody from another Christian denomination or marrying somebody who is not baptised you should immediately consult with your priest informing him of the special situation. In such cases a Letter of Dispensation from the local bishop will also\u00a0 be required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Marriage from abroad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you live outside Ireland, all documentation for your marriage is prepared in the Parish where you reside. These must be forwarded through the Chancery Office of the Diecese in which you reside to the Diocesan Office in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Priest for ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>If you live outside the St. Mary&#8217;s Parish, Tallaght and want to get married here you will need to arrange for your own priest to perform the ceremony. You should consult him regarding details of the ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Church offering welcome<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>If you are getting married in our church an offering for the use of the church would be welcome in advance.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CIVIL REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Civil requirements are separate to the Church requirements and need to be fulfilled by all couples intending to get married in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<strong>In the Republic of Ireland <\/strong>the couple must arrange to meet in person a civil registrar at least three months before the wedding to give the required three months notice of their intention to marry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Civil Registration Offices:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Sir Patrick Duns Hospital, Lr Grand Canal St, Dublin 2, Tel. 01 6787114\/5<\/li>\n<li>Joyce House, 8-11 Lombard St., East, Dublin 2, Tel. 01 8638200\/19<\/li>\n<li>If you live elsewhere in Ireland you can go to the Marriage Registration Office nearest you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The couple will be required to bring the following documentation to the Registrar&#8217;s Office:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Photo Identity<\/li>\n<li>Names\/Dates of Birth of Witness<\/li>\n<li>Name of the Church where they will be married<\/li>\n<li>Name of Priest who has agreed to celebrate the Marriage (if he is not already on the list of Official Solemnisers, his name must be submitted &#8211; at least 10 weeks in advance)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When all the civil requirements have been satisfactory completed <strong>the couple will receive the<em> Marriage Registration Form<\/em> (MRF)<\/strong> from the civil registrar (<strong>without this document no Marriage can take place<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Show the MRF to the priest\/deacon (solemniser) to check that details are correct<\/li>\n<li>Make the <strong>verbal declaration of no civil impediment<\/strong> not more than two days before Marriage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Return the signed MRF to any civil registrar no later than one month after the wedding.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you need any help or clarification please <strong>contact the Parish Priest or Curate at 01 4048100<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting Married There are some Church and Civil requirements which need to be fulfilled by all couples intending to get married.
