Commentary on Penacost Sunday 19.05.2013
JOHN 14: 15–16, 23–26
Pentecost Sunday, Year C
TEXT
[15] “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. [16] And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor, to be with you for ever.
23 “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
25 “These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. 26 But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Ascension C
TEXT Luke 24: 46–53
God’s promises fulfilled 46 Jesus said to the Eleven: “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, Forgiveness of sins 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. The Holy Spirit 49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high.” Ascension 50 Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple blessing God.
